Registration

Matthew Johnston is a Registered Physiotherapist dedicated to empowering patients to overcome pain and regain full function through compassionate, evidence-based care. Guided by core values of kindness, continuous learning, and authentic connection, Matthew earned his Honors Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from McMaster University before completing his Master of Science in Physical Therapy at Queen’s University. His academic excellence and leadership earned him top honors, including the Queen’s Physical Therapy Graduation Prize, the Rolf Lund Award, and the Michael Bak Award of Excellence. Grounded in a rich history of advocacy—from assisting individuals with spinal cord injuries to mentoring first-year students—he takes immense pride in taking the time to listen, understand each patient’s unique journey, and guide long-struggling individuals back to the activities they love.

Outside the clinic, Matthew’s warm, easy-going personality and passion for life make it easy for him to connect with people from all walks of life. Raised in Pickering and now living in Markham with his wife, he is an avid runner and former Team Canada triathlon competitor whose personal journey embodies perseverance: after six years of relentless training, he achieved his dream of running varsity Track & Field and Cross Country for Queen’s University, and recently completed the 2025 Boston Marathon. While noticeably calm and approachable, his lighthearted competitive spark shines on race day with the Monarch Athletics Club. An adventurous spirit who dreams of hiking the Dolomites and becoming a Corgi dad, Matthew is the friend who will turn a casual “we should go there sometime” into a fully booked itinerary within a week.
