Cornerstone’s Dry Needling Course is designed for physiotherapists, by physiotherapists and provides comprehensive training to allow you to confidently, effectively and safely integrate the skill of dry needling into your practice, helping your patients get better, faster! There is an emphasis on safety, practical skill and clinical reasoning.
Dry needling is a technique which involves inserting a thin, filaform needle into a muscle to help reduce myofascial tone and relax trigger points. This is a very effective tool in the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions, including (but not limited to) TMJ pain, low back pain, shoulder pain and neck pain. This course focuses on how to utilize dry needling as part of a broader treatment plan to help treat your patients in the most effective manner.
Course Details
This course meets the standards laid out by the College of Physiotherapists in Ontario to be able to roster and practice this technique.
Our course is administered using a mix of asynchronous learning (using Embodia), in-person practical sessions and examinations. You will always have access to our online resources, including demonstrative videos for each point learned in the course. You will also receive a physical manual with images, descriptions and cautions for each point learning for easy referencing. There is some preparation material provided prior to the in person days.
The practical days are spread out over the course of 3 months, ensuring that you have ample time to practice and review between sessions. This model allows you to implement your new skill immediately, and gives you the opportunity to continue to build your skill and confidence throughout the course.
Every participant in the course must be willing to be needled. The structure of the course relies on practicing all of the points on a partner, and it is very important that as a provider of this treatment, you are fully aware of how it feels to be on the receiving end of dry needling. If you are medically unable to be needled, please let us know ahead of time.
We have a very low instructor to participant ratio and a small group setting, ensuring that all of the points you learn on this course will be properly supervised and there is ample opportunity to ask questions.
Previous needling experience is an asset, but not a requirement.

Courtney and Julia have a combined 20+ years working as physiotherapists. They both have their certification in Integrated Dry Needling and they are both FCAMPTs, and Courtney has completed the McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture course. Testimonials
I took Cornerstone’s dry needling course last year and it was one of the most practical and applicable courses I’ve taken in a long time. The course itself was well organized, has great resources that I can look back on to review different points, and had videos to help clarify how and where points were used. Courtney and Julia did an amazing job making sure everyone was seen and observed, and questions were always answered clearly. The smaller class size made it easier to have the one on one attention while learning. I use dry needling quite frequently now in my practice and find it very useful. My clients find great relief from the needling. It is a great tool to add to your practice and I’d recommend that everyone look into taking this course!! Loved it!

The course was informative and engaging, with lots of opportunities to practice. As someone coming into the course with no dry needling experience, it was very instructive, delivered at an appropriate pace. The small number of course participants allowed for plenty of individualized feedback, and for questions regarding indications for dry needling in clinical practice. Needling points for many common MSK conditions are covered, making the course applicable to a wide array of practitioners. The course manual and demonstrative videos provided will continue to serve as valuable resources for reviewing technique.

The Cornerstone Dry Needling course led by Courtney and Julia was very comprehensive. Both the modules/videos on Embodia and the in-person sessions were straight to the point, providing relevant clinical information for each point (e.g. indications, precautions, and relevant anatomy). After just one of 3 total sessions, I started dry needling my patients with confidence and noticed faster results with their pain relief and overall progress. I would totally recommend this course to both new and experienced clinicians!
